(Augusta) – The Maine Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy has partnered with Machias Savings Bank and Next Gen Personal Finance to sponsor 12 Maine teachers, representing nine counties, to attend the 2018 Jump$tart National Educators Conference. This will be the largest group of teachers from Maine to attend since 2008, the year the conference was created. Through this event, teachers from 49 states will have an opportunity to create a community to share financial education resources and best practices to take back to their classrooms.
Jeanne Billings of Mt. Ararat High School, who attended last year, reflects, “The resources gained and connections made at last year’s conference had a profound impact on the quality of the instruction I was able to provide to my students…They LOVED all the new resources I was able to provide. By far one of the best conferences I have ever attended!”
This year marks the 10th anniversary for both the Jump$tart National Educators Conference as well as the Maine Jump$tart Coalition. In these exciting times, Maine Jump$tart could not be more thrilled to be providing sponsorship to well-deserving financial educators throughout the state. Many teachers will be attending for the first time and are eagerly anticipating this opportunity to discover new ways to empower and engage their students.
“I am so thankful to have the opportunity to attend the National Educators Conference…for the first time this year! As the only social studies teacher in the high school, I am excited to be able to go to the conference to connect and collaborate with other educators…I am looking forward to gaining more knowledge to better serve my students,” said Samantha Drost, of Central Aroostook High School.
