The Maine Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy is pleased to honor Logan Landry from Poland with its 2022-2023 Financial Educator of the Year Award. Logan, Assistant Principal at Oxford Hill Comprehensive Highschool and previously a seventh-grade teacher at Bruce Whittier Middle School, has been selected in recognition of his leadership and accomplishments in personal finance education.
The Maine Jump$tart Financial Educator of the Year Award, established in 2012, was created to recognize individuals who have distinguished themselves through their efforts to improve the financial capability of the students and families they serve.
Having attended Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in his youth, and recently becoming the school’s Assistant Principal is symbolic––with Landry looking to better the lives of the students walking the same halls he once did. After high school, Logan studied Elementary Education at the University of Maine at Farmington––later earning his Master of Education from the University of Southern Maine in 2019.
Logan has long-been an advocate of financial education, and routinely goes above and beyond by not only elevating the financial prowess of his students, but through his support of Maine’s social studies teachers as well. Logan strives to engage his students with fun activities and real-world experiences that encourage them to explore the world of personal finance. Students appreciate his kindness and knowledge about personal finance––often coming to him to ask for help and insight as they approach milestones, such as getting their first job or vehicle.
An excerpt from Logan’s nomination:
Logan is enthusiastic about his own learning and is always willing to step up and take on a leadership role. Logan is someone you can always count on to bounce ideas off and to lend a helping hand. Since connecting with Maine Jump$tart, Logan has attended several Maine workshops and national conventions to help improve not only his knowledge, but also the knowledge of his students.
As the recipient of the Financial Educator of the Year Award, Loan will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2022 National Jump$tart Educator’s Conference, where he can network with financial educators from across the country, continue to build his knowledge base, and further prepare himself to guide the students at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
