The Maine Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy is pleased to announce that Margie Deabay from Hermon High School has been named as the 2023-2024 Maine Jump$tart Financial Educator of the Year.
Margie has been teaching at Hermon for over 26 years. She teaches Accounting, Computer Applications, Career Exploration, Workplace Readiness, and Personal Finance, which has become a graduation requirement at Hermon.
Margie has been a fixture at Maine Jump$tart events for nearly 15 years, and she also credits NGPF for providing tools and inspiration to support her teaching.
“I believe that financial literacy is a fundamental life skill that can positively impact people at all stages of their lives. By sharing my knowledge and helping others develop financial literacy, I can make a meaningful difference in their lives and contribute to their long-term financial well-being. The potential for lasting positive change is what drives my passion for teaching personal finance.”
Well said, Margie. We are proud to honor you and recognize your contributions to personal financial education in Maine.
The Maine Jump$tart Financial Educator of the Year Award, established in 2012, was created to recognize individuals who have distinguished themselves through their efforts to improve the financial capability of the students and families they serve.
