The Maine Military Family Assistance Center’s mission is to provide a focal point of information for Veterans, Service Members, and their families. They strive to keep all aware of the benefits and services for which they qualify. The Maine Office of Securities disseminates financial literacy information regarding wise and safe investing in addition to providing presentations to students and seniors upon request.
The MECPA is a professional membership organization comprised of certified public accountants and accounting professionals. The Society provides Continuing Professional Education courses on a variety of tax, regulatory, accounting and financial topics and promotes the accounting profession and the success of its members. Many MECPA members share their financial expertise on a volunteer basis with nonprofit organizations throughout the state of Maine.
MaineHousing supports non-profit organizations that deliver housing counseling service in rural areas and underserved populations, specifically financial capabilities education and counseling services, including ESL, in the immigrant and refugee communities and Native-focused financial capabilities, pre-purchase and post purchase education and counseling in Maine’s tribal areas. MaineHousing also supports hoMEworks 10-hour homebuyer education classes, the schedule of which can be found at www.mainehomeworks.org, and provides home buying orientation presentations upon request.
Merrymeeting Adult Education provides classroom presentations and individual counseling pertaining to college transitions and filling out the FAFSA to individuals living in Northern Cumberland and Sagadahoc Counties.
MSAD 11 Adult Education offers workshops on money management, retirement planning, and financial literacy.
New Dimensions Federal Credit Union provides classroom presentations, handouts, and curriculum for students K- College Level. Additionally, financial resources, including budgeting and credit building resources, are made available to credit union members.
New Ventures Maine offers free classes in personal money management, career planning, and small business planning. Individual appointments are also available. Open to men and women of all ages and backgrounds.

In addition, they offer complimentary workshops concerning those financial issues that really matter: responsibly securing credit, household budgeting, setting smart financial goals and more. An affiliate of Mrs. Michelle Obama's Reach Higher Initiative, Reach Higher Maine aims to support school counseling and college access. Visit their site for professional development opportunities and resources to better assist students planning to attend college.
Region 9 Adult Education offers financial aid nights that are open to the public as well as individual resources and classroom presentations.
RSU 16 Adult Education offers financial literacy classes for adults as part of community enrichment offerings as well as for high school completion. A small fee of up to $10 may be charged depending on the course offering and audience.
Scarborough Adult Learning Center provides college information to all GED and Adult High School Diploma students upon earning their credential. In addition, financial literacy information, college transition classes, and Accuplacer Testing are offered at the Center.
Town & Country Federal Credit Union offers a variety of online and in-person financial education resources. Visit their Savvy Money site to view your credit score, work on your budget and explore other personal finance topics. Or, for in-person education, contact them to schedule a Financial "Wellness Workshop" in your school or workplace.
The University of Maine Cooperative Extension supports and provides the National Endowment for Financial Education.
York Adult Education works one on one with students and makes referrals to agencies and organizations in addition to holding FAFSA and budgeting workshops.
